Supersonic Phonic Friends

What is Phonics?

Phonics is the teaching of reading and writing, which develops the learner's phonemic awareness and ability to hear, identify and manipulate phonemes.  As well as the ability to understand the spelling patterns that represent them.

As the children in Year 1 and 2 still primarily use their phonetical knowledge to segment and blend words they are unsure of whilst reading, we have gathered a bank of useful resources to help support and consolidate their fluency.

Phonics at Irk Valley:

We have recently transitioned to follow the Supersonic Phonic Friends programme when teaching Phonics.  The website states "this programme is a fully systematic, synthetic phonic approach ranging from the simple to the complex spellings of the alphabetic code. Supported by their Supersonic Phonic friends, this approach will ensure children develop confidence and apply each skill to their own reading and writing."

Below you will find a link to the parental subscription for you to join in the adventure yourselves at home for a small monthly fee.  Along with a sneaky peek of the programme delivered by its creator Anna Lucas.
