Building Resilience
We recognise that children, as well as adults, have lived through an extraordinary time during the coronavirus pandemic. During each lockdown, we had regular contact with children and families with wellbeing calls, socially distanced home visits, and school for the children of keyworkers and vulnerable families. Plus, we used our youtube channel to keep connected with children, as well as google classroom for learning, and home learning packs for some.
Since returning to school and the easing of restrictions, we continue to build on opportunities that develop pupils’ confidence, resilience and knowledge, so that they can keep themselves mentally healthy. Our strategies include:
- weekly circle time sessions;
- sequence of lessons in PHSE specifically designed to support emotional wellbeing of children;
- clear routines to keep safe;
- classroom mood boards;
- continued celebrations with choc choc Friday and certificates and positive phone calls home;
- pupil voice opportunities
- bubble time with class teacher (1-1 time with the teacher)
