Autumn 1 - The achievements of the Earliest Civilizations

What are we learning about?

This term, children in year will be Historians and learn all about Ancient Civilizations. After looking at an overview of where and when the first civilizations appeared (Ancient Sumer; The Indus Valley; Ancient Egypt; The Shang Dynasty of Ancient China), we will study Ancient Egypt in depth. They will learn some background knowledge, carry out drama and role play activities, develop their writing skills, read stories and evaluate artefacts. It is an interesting topic to learn and we know children will enjoy learning about it. Below are some links to videos to help with our study:
