‘Welcome to our valley. We are proud to grow here together’

Trainees

"In the heart of our valley, people grow, they flourish and lay down roots. They bloom like flowers and then set seed into a land of new ideas. "

"In our beautiful valley, we guide and nurture you."

"You will always succeed anywhere you go because you were grown in our Valley, Irk Valley."

What makes a good early years practitioner?

Hear from Sharon, the assistant head teacher and early years lead, as she tells us what she thinks makes a 'good early years practitioner'. Irk Valley is a Manchester Metropolitan University partnership school.

At Irk Valley we offer teacher training placements through Manchester Metropolitan University and Teach Manchester.

We support many trainees in all year groups from Early Years to Year 6.

This year, we are supporting 2 trainees in their second teaching practice, 2 trainees in the third year of their practice and 1 trainee doing a PGCE as part of the School Direct teacher training programme.

Our long term goal is to become a flagship school, sharing good practice with others. We take pride in demonstrating strong practice in teaching and learning to support those who wish to enter the teaching profession.

Our class mentors receive mentor CPD to support them in role and to further develop the practice of the trainee.

Our trainees receive weekly CPD sessions and opportunities to collaborate with other trainees and colleagues.

Please take a look at our feedback from both trainees and class mentors.
