Welcome to Year 2C

We are looking forward to sharing a fantastic year of learning, creativity and growth together, and we are excited to have you as part of our class family.

Meet the Teachers:

I am your teacher,  Mrs Cross. I I have worked at Irk Valley for 13 years and had taught both Year 1 and 2 during this time. My favourite lesson is English and I love joining in P.E. lessons too. I have a cat called Roxy and she is very good at cuddles.
Ms Holda is the assistant teacher and she is keen to help and hear your children read!  
We are looking forward to meeting you properly at parents’ evenings, school meetings and open days, but in the meantime, please let us know if you have any questions.

Class Information:

• Reading: Please ensure your child brings their reading book and reading record to school daily, reads at home each evening, and asks an adult to sign their reading record. Remember, we're aiming for 5 signatures each week!  Children read regularly with staff, and books are changed once they are read confidently and understood. Reading record comments will focus on fluency or comprehension, and achievements are celebrated through certificates, stamps and rewards.
• Spellings: Spelling tests are held every Friday. We celebrate success and progress on ClassDojo, recognising both achievement and effort.

• Homework: Set every Friday and should be returned by the following Wednesday. Children are encouraged to complete tasks independently, although support and discussion with an adult may be helpful.

• PE: Our PE days are Monday and Thursday. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing the correct PE kit. For full kit details, please click here.
• Class Dojo: Stay connected with our class through ClassDojo, where we share weekly learning and important updates. Invitation codes are provided at the beginning of the school year. Please let us know if you need another copy.
