What are we learning about?

This term, Year 1 will learn about the local area and what is around the school. They will do this by looking at aerial maps of the school and local area, describing what they can see and identifying familiar places/ buildings. Children will expand their understanding of maps by drawing and building a map of their own using Lego. They will also apply their knowledge to label a school map. They will use their mapping skills by looking at what different map symbols mean and why they are there.
