Year 1 Yellow

In our Creative Area this week (8th - 12th November) we have linked our activities to remembrance and the poppy.

One activity helped improve our cutting skills to create a mosaic style poppies, these were simple yet effective and the children displayed excellent resilience to complete these independently.

Our second activity was to create a mixed media poppy; we used paints, chalk and printing.

The children used cotton buds to fill the poppy petals with red dots in the style of pointillism art and a larger sponge for the black centre.  The stem was created using chalk and we focused on leaf printing using actual leaves collected from the playground.  Below are photographs of each skill we practiced, we hope you like our artwork!
