Spring Term:

Spring Term 1: 'Who lives in Antarctica?'  We took inspiration from the artist Paul Klee with the intention of creating a polar scene to link to our topic.

Each week the children focused on learning a new technique this included colour mixing, tinting and sponging.  Once finished they even evaluated their own art work.

Autumn Term:

The children in Year 1 spent the whole of Autumn exploring our Creative Area which contained multi-media resources and activities linked to our topic question.

Autumn Term 1: 'Who am I?' Each week the children focused on how to draw an individual facial feature then created their own self portraits.

Autumn Term 2: Our Art linked to significate events - for Remembrance Day we created a mosaic style poppies along with creating mixed media poppy; we used paints, chalk and printing.  The children used cotton buds to fill the poppy petals with red dots in the style of pointillism art.  The stem was created using chalk and we focused on leaf printing using actual leaves collected from the playground.
