Lots of learning and fun is taking place in Summer 1. In the first few weeks, we will be busy rehearsing our Macbeth performance on Friday 6th May at the Royal Exchange in Manchester City Centre.
We will be reading Rain Players by Richard Wisniewski and find more a=out about they Mayan civilization. We will be writing Narratives, diary entries and information texts.
In Spring 2 we will begin our amazing journey with our Shakespeare topic and performance. Below are links to lots of the subjects and topics we will learning about this half term
In English, we be learning and performing a Shakespeare play. This play has murder and mystery in it and I'm sure we will have a brilliant time. In summer term, Year 5 will perform at the Royal Exchange.

Throughout this unit, we will be focusing on several essential skills:
- Conjunctions for coordinating
- Basic punctuation
- Using tenses especially past tense and past perfect tense
- Commas to separate items in list
- Suitable vocabulary
- Use of relative phrases and clauses to offer greater detail
- Understanding formal and informal tone
In Reading, we will be reading
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
We will be learning about fractions, decimals and interpreting decimals.
In science, we will be learning about MATERIALS including properties of materials, changing states and separating mixtures.

In French we will be learning how to hold an introductory conversation and talk about school, family and where we live.

We are improving our geographical skills and focusing on North America and we are improving our geographical skills and learning about maps and how to create and read maps.
We are learning how to draw self-portraits in the style of Frida Kahlo. Check this YouTube clip and then try to draw your own self portrait.
In Computing, we are learning about Coding.
