Maths - In the first part of the summer 2 term we will be continuing to learn about fractions. Following on from this, we will be learning about angles, lines and shapes and perimeter of shapes. Towards the end of term we will be looking at different kinds of graphs and then revising and consolidating what we have been learning in year 3 . English - We will be writing a recount story about escaping from the erruption of Mount Vesuvius in Pompeii. We will also be writing an explanation text to explain how a volcano errupts and at the end of term we will writing and permforming poems based on volcanoes.
Reading - This half term we will focusing on different extracts of novels or short texts each week, starting with chapter 5 of 'The firework Makers daughter', 'Five children and It' and 'The Witches' by Roald Dahl.
Reading for pleasure - In these lessons, we will reflect on what reading for pleasure means. We will spend time thinking about different texts that are important to us.
Science - This half term, we will be focusing on our Light and Shadows topic, followed by some revision of the topics we have covered in year 3, towards the end of the year.
Geography- 'Why is the earth so angry?' - In Geography this half term, we will be looking at what shapes our world? - volcanoes and mountains
DT- This half term we will be looking at mechanical systems: Pneumatics - Design a moving monster.
