‘Welcome to our valley. We are proud to grow here together’

Parent Feedback

We believe positive, friendly communication with parents is an essential part of a happy school home relationship.  We value your feedback as it is a key way we can improve what we do.

Relationships and Health Education Information and Consultation

From September 2020, Relationships Education and Health Education will be mandatory for primary schools.

For many years, we have been delivering a curriculum, at Irk Valley, aimed at supporting children’s health, safety and well-being. Most things covered in the new curriculum will be very similar to what we already teach our children. However, some aspects of our curriculum will need to change.

We are reviewing all aspects of our relationships and health education programme to make sure it is the best it can be. We want to ensure it prepares our children for their future, enabling them to keep themselves safe, lead healthy lifestyles and make a positive contribution to society. We also want our curriculum to meet the relevant legal requirements, whilst being sensitive to the needs of our community.

It is very important to me that parents are kept informed and are consulted about changes to this policy and curriculum.

Policy Document and Programme of Study

This is our draft Relationships and PHSE Policy:

This is what the curriculum will cover in each Key Stage:

Parents Evenings

During both parents’ evenings on 24th and 25th February, there will be information about the proposed curriculum on display in the Dining Room. Members of staff will be available to answer questions and give further information.

Parent Survey

A parent survey will be open Monday 3rd March – Friday 13th March.   A link to the survey will be sent to parents via Parent Pay. Paper copies of the survey will be available on request from the school office.  In the week commencing 23rd March, there will be follow up meetings in school for parents as needed.

The parent consultation process will end on Friday 27th March 2020.

Parent views will be genuinely reflected on to help us reach our final decisions about our policy and curriculum.  It is important to be clear that different parents are likely to have conflicting views and the school needs to consider other factors, alongside parent views, in making a decision on this matter.

Ofsted Parent View is an online survey that allows parents to give their views about their child’s school. Parents can complete the survey at any time. By ‘parents’, we mean any person with parental responsibility for a child at the school.  Click here to submit your responses.
