Welcome to 5A

Hi Everyone,

My name is Mr Armbrister and I teach Year 5.  I have been at Irk Valley for 4 years now and am loving every minute of teaching these wonderful children.

I've been teaching for 12 years and during my time I have worked in many schools across the Greater Manchester area,  but none as fabulous as Irk Valley.  We pride ourselves on teaching to an excellent standard whilst ensuring that learning is both well thought out and engaging.

To the delight of some of you, maybe not others, I have been a Manchester United season ticket holder for 7 years and have enjoyed the majority of it.  I play golf regularly and have recently started to take a much greater care towards my health and fitness.

I am very fortunate to be teaching the same class as last year and look forward to building their confidence before they embark on Year 6.

Hi there, my name is Mrs Liew and I am the class teaching assistant. This year will be my eleventh year working at Irk Valley, 9 of these has been in upper key stage 2.

My favourite subject in school is maths, in my spare time I like to garden and when it is raining, I enjoy painting rocks for my garden. My guilty pleasure is watching Korean dramas.

This year will be very exciting for the children - Shakespeare performance at 'The Royal Exchange'- I can't wait.

Our PE days are Monday and Thursday.  Please come to school wearing your school PE kit. Information about PE kit and expectations can be found by clicking here.

In Year 5, reading is vitally important. Children will be expected to bring their reading books into school every day.  Children will have the opportunity have an adult listen to them read and to change their book if necessary at least once each week.  As well as this, we will be having daily reading lessons and other opportunities to read throughout the week.  All children are signed up to a fantastic reading resource called Reading Eggs.  This can be accessed at home.  Click below to log in.
