In Nursery we learn Level 1 Phonics.  The purpose of Level 1 is to develop children's listening and communication skills, including their vocabulary, to prepare them for reading and writing in the next level.  The emphasis during Level 1 is to get children attuned to the sounds around them and ready to begin developing oral blending and segmenting skills.

Twinkl Phonics

We follow the Twinkl Phonics programme when teaching Phonics throughout the school.  The website states that it is "Everything you need to make phonics a joy. Endorsed by schools and validated by the DfE our SSP programme will help you nurture a love of reading and writing, whilst you guide them towards fluency".
