Our Home–School Promise

Proud to grow here, together

At Irk Valley Community School, we believe children do best when school, families and children work together as one team.

Our new Home–School Agreement / Promise was created with our whole school community. During the Summer Term, children helped shape it through assemblies and discussion. We also used feedback from our parent survey in April, alongside staff views, so that the agreement reflects what matters to the people who know our children best.

It sets out the promises we make to one another — school, families and pupils — and the way we want to work together every day.

We are proud of the relationships we have with our families. We know that parents and carers know their children incredibly well, and we want everyone to feel welcomed, listened to and part of the Irk Valley family.

Our Shared Promise

Our agreement is built around some very simple ideas: kindness, respect, curiosity, collaboration, learning and belonging.

We promise to:

* keep children safe, happy and welcome;

* know each child well and celebrate what makes them unique;

* provide exciting learning and help every child do their best;

* listen and communicate with families clearly and kindly;

* support learning, behaviour and wellbeing;

* help every child grow, develop confidence and discover new opportunities.

In return, we ask families and children to work with us in the same spirit — supporting attendance, learning, communication, kindness, respect and the routines that help children thrive.

Working together for every child

We know that no school or family gets everything right all of the time. What matters is that we talk to one another, listen to one another and work through difficulties together.

We want our children to grow up knowing that they belong, that their voice matters and that there is a bright future ahead of them.

That is what our Home–School Agreement is really about.

It is not simply a list of expectations. It is our shared commitment to looking after our children together and helping every child grow.
