‘Welcome to our valley. We are proud to grow here together’

Year 2

During our Geography Super Learning Day in Year 2 we completed lots of fun activities.

We learnt all about human and physical geography, even identifying and sorting local geographical features using an aerial map of Cheetham Hill and Crumpsall.

We also looked at aerial maps of our local environment and produced our own map remembering to include a key.

Another of our activities during our Super Geography Learning Day was to create our own salt-dough map of the world, we put our map reading skills to the test by identifying and naming each of the continents and oceans around the world.

This was the majority of the children's favourite part even if they all ended up with sticky hands!

To end the day 2T undertook a class discussion based on Geography. During this we listened to the focus group in the center of our ‘fish bowl’ then reflected on their practice as well as challenging their opinions when appropriate.  Our discussion topic questions included...

Are all seas around the world the same shade of blue?

and

Why are the top of the mountains in the Alps covered in snow all year round?
