w/c 16th November Communication
We are getting into character as Scrooge. Working with West End in Schools on Monday, we acted as different characters from the story, A Christmas Carol. Since then we have started to plan a diary entry as Scrooge.
This week it's anti-bullying week and we have completed different activities. We were set a challenge from Mrs Lord to create a poster for display in the school. We looked at different forms of bullying - social, verbal, online and physical. We spent time understanding the message: United Against Bullying. Some of us also wore odd socks on Monday to raise awareness of our uniqueness and celebrate our differences. On Friday we are also going to look at the theme kindness in our class and our homes.
What are the tactics for tag rugby?
How can I show control in hockey?
We have started two new sports this half term: tag rugby and hockey. We have practised evading our opponents in tag rugby and using speed to get past them. In hockey, we have used two hands to hold the hockey stick and then kept the stick below the knee to control and hit the ball. We have started to look at ways to move away with the ball from our opponent.
Our attendance this week has increased to
(Come on 5S - YOU SUPERSTARS)

On Friday 20th November Emmanuella and Adam received a positive phone call home - they have made such an effort in their lessons- even when they have found things difficult. Fantastic!
Asbah is thrilled to receive the award for his writing.
Positive Note Home:
Miss Porter, our trainee teacher in 5S, awarded Hasinah the special note home for working well in a team, being really involved in PE and listening very well in lessons. Fantastic attitude, Hasinah.
Hajirah and Emmanuella were awarded the certificates for COOPERATION this week. Well done - totally deserved.

Well done on handing in your homework every week in the first half term. We are really proud of you! Keep up the hard work and dedication to learning outside of school.
On Tuesdays and Fridays children can choose a new reading book and library book. We quarantine returned books for 72 hours.
Children should read every day at home. The children in our class find 10 - 30 minutes before bed time is a good time to practise this habit.
Grown ups - please can you write in the reading record when you have listened to your child read.
If your child reads at home each day, and a grown up signs the reading record, they will receive a raffle ticket. Once a half term, a raffle ticket is pulled out and the child will win a prize.
At school, children are heard to read by an adult at least once a fortnight.
On Monday children explore a new spelling rule. The spellings are available on google classroom, our class web page, or a paper copy can be given.
On Friday the children are tested on their spellings.
On Monday and Friday, children can wear PE kits. Often the lesson is outside, so please wear warm layers.
Children are to bring in their own water bottle each day.
Homework is set on Fridays and due in by the following Friday.
It will be set on Google Classroom.
(Paper copies can be made available if you cannot access Google Classroom).
