Year 3

Welcome to Year 3

Hello children and parents, welcome to the Year 3 class page.

What have we been doing this week?

Week beginning 9th November

Thanks for another excellent week in school so far Year 3. You have been working really hard and we have had lots of fun. Here are some of the things we have been working on this week.

Remembrance Day

In our assembly with Mrs Lord on Monday we were learning all about Remembrance Day. The children have then created some excellent art thinking about Remembrance Day, some of which has been displayed in our Irk Valley Art Gallery.

The Stone Age

This term in history we are learning all about the Stone Age. We will be writing about this in our English lessons and over the next two weeks, the children will be writing a non-chronological report. The children can challenge themselves at home by researching the Stone Age, using this research in their writing and history lessons.

We have started our topic of forces and magnets. Do you have any fridge magnets at home you ca experiment with? What types of materials are attracted to the magnet? Have a think about forces – what force do you use to pull open a draw, throw a ball?

Reading Eggs

We have introduced reading eggs to the children which is an online tool that can be used at home to help with their reading. Ask the children all about it and encourage them to get logged on at home to complete some of their activities.
