Summer Term

From A to B

During this topic we will be focusing on alot of our Geography objectives for Year 1.  We began by introducing the topic to the children linking it with our Non-Chronological Reports about cars.  The children had already had the opportunity to play with various toys earlier in the week so we recalled this information to help complete our KWL grid.  We wanted to know what the children already knew about transport and what they would like to learn.

Our next lesson introduced some new keywords for us to remember; physical geography and human geography.

We eagerly watched and read through a short PowerPoint which told us that physical geography is  when something has appeared there naturally and human geography is when someone has built or put it there.  With this in mind we went on a walk around our school grounds to identify the different types for ourselves on our return we completed a table to record our findings.
