Letterjoin is used to support handwriting at school, pupils can also log into Letter-join at home, accessing lots of resources including touch-screen activities on iPads and tablets. 

Letter-join animates every capital and lower case letter along with numbers and punctuation to model the correct formation.  Enabling the children to produce neater handwriting with consistent spacing, letter sizes and introducing joins.  

Below is an alphabet mat showing how capital letters and lower case letters should be formed.  The red dot shows where each letter should begin when writing.

End of Year 3 Expectations


The Year 3 expected standard for handwriting is for the children to use the diagonal and horizontal strokes that are needed to join letters.

Handwriting in School

The children will have opportunities during the week to practice their handwriting to ensure formation and joining of letters is followed correctly.
