The children were all incredible excited for our winged visitors today.  They all held Bubbles carefully and enjoyed watching JD fly across the hall.

Spring Term 1 - Design Technology; Creating our own moon buggies

To link with our Explorers topic in English this half term the children are becoming creative in planning, designing and making their own moon buggies with a focus on wheels and axles.

We have decided that our moon buggy will be a toy for a child to imagine they are on the moon collecting rocks or similar object and that it must contain a wheel and axle which is fit for purpose.

We have tested existing wheel and axle products available, explored with various materials to decide which is more suitable and finally created the product.  Here are a few photographs of the on-going process.

Spring Term 1 - Our trip to Abraham Moss Library.

The children loved our little walk up Cresent Road to visit the library at Abraham Moss.  They were spoken to by Miss Summerfield who told them all about the library system, asked lots of excellent questions and were blown away by the amount of books on offer.

They have each chosen a book to stay in school to read over the next few weeks!

Autumn Term 2 - Chocolate Topic Projects.

Thank you to everyone who helped the children make their sweet/ chocolate products for this half term's topic project - they were all individually wild and wonderful we're sure Willy Wonka himself would have gained some ideas!

Autumn Term 2 - Chocolatier Visitor

We had lots of fun with our special visitor, Louise the chocolatier.  The children were so good resisting the temptation of eating their yummy chocolate shapes and lollipops!  They impressed Louise with all their chocolate knowledge too.

Autumn Term 2 - Chocolate!

We had a special delivery on our return to school; not only did the children receive golden tickets during the holidays but we had a box filled with different types of chocolate!  Of course, once the children had finished all their learning for the day we shared it around and we all enjoyed exploring the different taste, textures and smells.

Autumn Term 1 - Circus Topic Projects.

Thank you so much for all your efforts in producing our first topic projects - the children's circuses were amazing and all individually styled.  Mr Young and Miss Connor were very impressed and have loved teaching this topic during the last eight weeks!

Also, a huge thank you to the parents who came in to share our learning on Friday morning, we hope you enjoyed our activities and seeing what we have been getting up to in school.

Autumn Term 1 - Our trip to Blackpool Tower Circus

We had lots of fun on our trip to the circus.  Jamie, our guide, introduced us to our surroundings and in our session taught us how to juggle! It was a little bit tricky but we were resilient.  After that we had our lunch sat on the top tier of the famous Tower Ballroom, it was magnificent! There were even people dancing around to the music from the organ.

Once we'd finished, it was finally time to go and watch the circus.  The ring was all lit and soon Mr Boo and Mooky the clown appeared to introduce the show.  It was so funny but some of the performances were very daring the performers were very brave and must have been practicing for a long time.. It was that good, we all had our own favourite part!
