All About Us

My name is Miss Sloan and I will be your teacher this year in Year 1 Yellow.  I can't wait to meet you and find out all about you and your favourite things.  Here are some things you might like to know about me:

I was born in Northern Ireland.  I grew up there and this is where I went to school.  I moved to Manchester to train to be a teacher and loved it that much that I decided to stay.

I have been a teacher at Irk Valley for 9 years and have always taught in Year 1 or 2.

I have a son who is starting Year 2 this year and he is very excited to get back to school!

My favourite colours are red and grey.  When I buy things I like to make sure they are in my favourite colours.

My favourite foods are burritos and chocolate (but not at the same time!)

When I am not in school I enjoy reading or going for long walks.  I also like to go to the local parks, farms and museums with my son.

Hi, I'd like to take a little time to introduce myself to you:

I'm Ms Owen, one of the class teachers in Year 1 Yellow and also the Assistant Head Teacher here at Irk Valley.

I have worked in education for 22 years and I can honestly say that Irk Valley is a truly amazing place and I feel privileged to work here.  I am passionate about inclusion and fairness, and I believe that all children should be given the same opportunities.  I love watching how young children learn and how they discover the world around them.

I also pride myself with having honest and open relationships with parents /carers. If you have any concerns or worries, please do not hesitate to contact me.  We are Irk Valley family, and we all want the best for your child.

This year is going to be really exciting, and I am looking forward to helping the children develop the skills they need to build the rest of their education on.  Our classroom will provide a happy, safe, secure and engaging environment.  We have plenty trips and visitors planned so remember to look out for what is coming up.

Outside of school I love being outdoors and walking my little dog called Toby.  I like being active and enjoy swimming, playing netball and more recently paddleboarding!

I am really looking forward to getting to know you and working together this year.

Hello, my name is Miss Connor and I'll be working as the Teaching Assistant in Year 1 Yellow this year.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and I'm excited to find out your favourite activities, both in school and at home but first I'd like to tell you some facts about me:

My favourite colour is blue, I love reading stories, two of my favourites are The Tiger Who Came to Tea written by Judith Kerr and We're Going on a Bear Hunt written by Michael Rosen.

I love going on trips to the zoo and see all the animal especially the elephants because they are my favourite.  At home I have no pets but I would really like a tortoise!

At the weekend and during the holidays I love to explore new places with my friends and family.

In school, I enjoy Maths and Phonics, especially our Supersonic Phonic Friends along with listening to children read.
