Welcome to Year 3Y
Week beginning 13th September
The children have settled in really well this week and have worked really hard. We have been having a big focus on respect and how we show respect to others. I think 3Y have been great at showing respect and 'filling buckets' (ask the children to tell you about the story!).
In English we have started our work on describing a wooly mammoth. We have been learning about expanded noun phrases to describe and writing interesting sentences (with a capital letter and full stop!).
We have started place value in maths and thinking about the value of each digit in a 3 digit number and ordering numbers correctly.
In science we have started our work on rocks and fossils. The children were looking at some fossils on Thursday and then writing about how fossils are made. We have continued work on our self-portraits and will be sharing those on the website as soon as they're complete.
I will be holding an open morning for parents very soon so please look out for a letter about that. This will give me a chance to meet parents, answer any questions and share what we will be covering in Year 3.
