WELCOME TO YEAR 3: MISS HUGHES.
Hello to my new 3H class and your parents and carers!
Let me introduce myself...
My name is Miss Hughes. Some of you might know me already because I may have taught you once a week when you were in Nursery or Reception. I'm really excited to be teaching you again!
For those of you who I've not taught before, I can't wait to meet you and get to know you more.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself...
I have been teaching for 23 years and have been teaching at Irk Valley School since the day it opened. I even taught at our old school (St.Thomas's) so I may have even taught some of your relatives previously.
I was born in Wales and this is where I grew up and attended school.
I moved to Manchester in 1993 to train to be a teacher and I've lived here ever since. I love Manchester and I was drawn to this exciting city and I knew it was the place I wanted to attend university.
However, I do return to Wales regularly to see all my friends and family.
I have a son called Lucas who is eight years old and will be going into Year 4 this year.
My favourite colour is red and I love Chinese food and chocolate!
My favourite animals are elephants and sloths. I'm terrified of snakes, though!
My favourite football team is Liverpool (not a popular choice in Manchester!)
My favourite things to do are read, listen to music, go to the cinema, visit the theatre and go for meals with family and friends.
My favourite subjects to teach are History and English. I do enjoy Art, too.
I can't wait to start teaching these and many other exciting subjects to you this year. I look forward to welcoming you all back to school.
Our adventures start here...
