Welcome Back!

Hi everyone,

We hope you've had a lovely break and that you are all ready for Year 2. My name is Mrs Matusiak and I will be teaching you (again! :)) this year. As you know, I love spending time with my family, especially with my son Alex who is 2 years old. My favourite colour is pink and I LOVE chocolate and curry - yummy!

Mrs Malone is our TA this year and she loves animals, chocolate and flowers. She has granddaughter who is 10 years old. Her favourite colours are: black, purple and red. Did you know that Mrs Malone makes her own soaps?! How amazing!

Here is some information about 2M!

To start the school year off, we will be learning the following:

Why are some places special?

Place Value - Recognise the place value of each digit in a two-digit number (tens, ones)Compare and order numbers from 0 up to 100; use <, > and = signs

Materials - Working Scientifically - Perform simple tests, Identify and classify & Use observations and ideas to suggest answers to questions.

Why are some places special? History of the Local area

Homework will be given out on Fridays on Google Classroom and is expected to be returned to school before the following Wednesday. Your child may expected to learn Maths facts (such as times tables) and spellings every week for a small test. Learning these will help to improve your child’s memory and will support their progress in class.

Please ensure that your child reads for at least 10 minutes a day, and where possible, is listened to by an adult. Your child should have their reading record signed by an adult at least one per week and should bring it in to school everyday.

Our PE days are Tuesdays and Thursdays and children can wear their P.E. kit into school on that day.

We can't wait to see you all! If you have any questions please contact us on class dojo, here is the link:

Yours faithfully,

Mrs Matusiak and Mrs Malone
