How we learn in Reception

We love to learn in Reception! We have different areas for our learning: maths, reading, writing, outdoors, creative, investigation, role play, malleable, construction, water and fiddly fingers.

Here are a few pictures of the children in Reception learning through play in different areas:

Summer 2 – Space

We will begin our topic through the fictional story of Aliens Love Underpants, written by Claire Freedman & Ben Cort. This will lead us to creating our very own aliens to describe and use in our own stories. We will then learn about rockets and write factual sentences about them.

English:

In English we will be practising the sounds learnt in phonics to help us write captions and sentences related to our topic. We will write descriptive sentences about aliens as well as factual sentences that tell us about the different parts of a rocket.

Maths:

In Maths we will be focusing on addition and subtraction to improve our understanding and skills. We will also be applying what we have learnt throughout the year to practical problems.
