Our Curriculum

Miss Watterson and Mr Young (2Y) work together to plan engaging lessons for the children as well as challenging them accordingly, ensuring the National Curriculum framework is covered and preparing them for their education in Key Stage 2.

Please find below the outline of Year 2; 2018-19 which shows our focus per week/ term.  Each half term is broken down and will be filled with photographs of what 2W have undertaken!

Autumn 1: In Year 2 the chosen text(s) in English links with our topic for the term.  To begin with we will be focusing on circus related texts.

As an introduction the children designed and made their own clown faces - which they brought home in the first week! During the term the children have predicted, interrogated and captured various features of a Julia Donaldson fictional classic 'The Singing Mermaid' and our non-fiction 'Welcome to the Circus' in our English lessons.

Once our learning is complete the children will have written their own narrative and non-fiction booklet sharing facts they have learnt about the circus.  We have had lots of excellent writing pieces which are pinned up on our display to everyone who comes in our classroom.
