Handwriting Lessons and Homework

This year we have introduced a new handwriting scheme called Letterjoin, this includes an online resource which the children can access from home by clicking the link below.

Each Monday we introduce a new letter or join to the children they will then continue to practice the given letter/ join throughout the week in school and for homework in their small green handwriting books.

Attached below are our letter families which model how each letter of the alphabet is formed.

To help implement our new scheme and ensure the children are able to form their letters at the expected standard Miss Connor has introduced 'Handwriting Club' for the first 10 minutes of lunchtime on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

During this time the children will warm up their hands for writing and practice the correct letter formation, orientation and relationship with other letters of the alphabet; both capitals and lower case.

Here are a some links to warm-up exercises and activities to try at home..

The children who attend 'Handwriting Club' have been sent an identical pack home so they can repeat the tracing activities to consolidate everything we do at school, these packs can remain at home.

We would be extremely grateful if you could encourage the children to complete this task as often as possible.  Thank you!
